Summer term

Under the Sea

It was a fantastic evening of entertainment in the forest. This year we performed our version of the Little Mermaid. The children were incredible. The forest, set and costumes looked wonderful and the singing was exquisite. Thank you to everyone who helped in anyway. There were lots of happy faces!

Summer Term

Sports day

The children had a fantastic time at sports day. They showed fantastic determination and sportsmanship. Polkerris were victorious. Thank you to all the parents and family that came to support and the refreshments from the PTA. Luckily the rain stayed away!

This week, we have also been taking part in the Bridge School Games. Everyday we have competed in a different challenge and have been sending off our schools as part of a competition with the other schools in the trust. We will find out next week how we got on!

D Day

Lanlivery marks D Day

Last Thursday was the 80th anniversary of D Day. We were invited out to the flag pole for a ceremony to raise the flay. We heard the reading and then the flag was raised as one of our ex-pupils played the cornet. Pupils from our neighboring school and from the village also came out to see the flag fly.

On the same day the first poppy in our wild flower garden bloomed!

Lanlivery Primary Academy were deeply saddened to hear the tragic news about one of our pupils, Dexter. He will be remembered as smiley, kind and caring; a great friend to all of his class and the whole school. He loved to play, learn and get creative and it is hard to envisage our school without him.

We will miss him dearly and our thoughts are with his mum, dad, siblings, whole family and wider community. We are working with professionals trained to provide the very best support for pupils, parents and staff at this difficult time.

World Book Day

Books, Books, Books!!

To celebrate World Book day every class focused on the works of Oliver Jeffers. We looked at different stories he had written or illustrated and had a day full of book activities. We finished the day with an assembly where we shared the work we had been doing in class.

We had a competition to see who could be caught reading in the most unusual places! We had some very interesting entries including: in the shower, on a horse, on a fence, in the bath, upside down and many more. The children voted for which photos showed the most unusual place. Here are some of the entries!

2024

Spring term

It has been a chilly start to the new year with a few sprinklings of snow in January. As we approached half term we focused on our mental health. It was children's mental health week. All classes spent time focusing on wellbeing in different ways. We had slower starts to the days with mindful activities, we had afternoons with hot chocolate, gardening and exercise and consider which activities help us to feel good, be calm and destress. During the week, it was also Safer internet day -  EYFS and key stage 1 looked at what to do when something scares you or worries you online. In key stage 2 we looked at techniques programs and apps use to persuade us to do something that we were not planning to do including staying online for longer - prizes, streaks, rewards etc. We also reminded children of age ratings on games. We have lots of information for parents about online safety in the keeping safe section.

Update

It's Christmas!!

The festivities are in full swing at Lanlivery!!

We are very lucky to have the church next door to provide the perfect setting for our annual nativity. The children were excellent, as always. The singing was superb and the little foresters were great as the characters from the story.

The church was packed and it definitely put everyone in the Christmas spirit. Thank you for joining us. Thanks also goes to the PTA for the wonderful refreshments and raffle to raise money for the school.

We have a few more Christmas activities before we break up including - A special visitor, a cinema trip, Christmas lunch and party!

Update

Sporting Adventures

November has been a busy month with sporting competitions, we have had tag rugby, multi skills, swimming and dodgeball. We have had the opportunity to take children to competitions from all year groups. All the children that participated showed fantastic sportsmanship and determination. They all worked well together to represent our small school.

November

Updates

The first half term flew by in a blur!

Autumn 2 is always one of the busiest half terms with so many special days and occasions to mark.

Last week we walked down to the war memorial to mark Remembrance. Pupils had made poppies, wreaths and written poems to mark the important time of year. Children in year 5 and 6 read out their poems to the rest of the school as we thought about the importance of remembrance.

We are now heading in to Anti-bullying week with lots of activities planned. Starting with odd sock day, a live lesson, Children in Need and also making sure we 'make a noise' about bullying!

There is lots happening in the next few weeks so make sure you keep up to date in our weekly emails!

2023 2024

Welcome back

It has been lovely to have everyone back in school. Everyone was looking very smart and ready to get back to work.

Our year 4 children have adjusted to their new morning and afternoon routine in different classrooms and it is working well. Year 2 have settled in to Jays class and the new reception pupils were eager to get started on their phonics lessons.

The most exciting change for this year is our new kitchen!! We now have our lunches cooked on site and we have created a new dining area so we don't have to eat in the classrooms. We will share some pictures soon of what the new set up looks like.

Lucky tickets are back for this year. When children are spotted demonstrating our 6 key values they earn a lucky ticker. We are looking for creativity, curiosity, excellence, enthusiasm, determination and responsibility.

We spent the weekend at the Lanlivery Rally to raise money and promote the school. It was lovely to chat to people and see some old faces. A huge thank you to our PTA volunteers for giving up some time at the weekend.

We are now looking forward to a productive week 2!!
