We have appointed our school council representatives in Eagles class. The year 6 pupils had the opportunity write and present a speech to become chair to all the class through a Microsoft TEAMS link up, which they thought was cool! After the speeches and the votes it was a tie, so this year we will have co-chairs - Rocky and Charlie. We will be nominating a representative from the other two class who will make sure the views and ideas from all the classes are heard.
Reminders
Please make sure you have completed the home-school agreement. We currently have 30 still incomplete. Please can these be done ASAP.
You have been sent a link to sign up for a phone call for our Parents' evening before half term.
As the weather changes, please make sure children are prepared for PE and forest school!
We are two weeks in and we have been very impressed with how everyone has settled back in to school. This week we had our pre schoolers back and they had a lovely first day at school. There has been some great work happening in all the classes - great writing, maths work and art work. Keep it up!
Today we have sent 6 star of the week certificates out in the post, I wonder who will get them this week? Once the children have received them we will announce the stars in school.
Remember to check the class pages for a peek at what has been happening in the classrooms.
The summer has flown by and the first day back is just around the corner. The teachers have been busy arranging classrooms to be warm, inviting learning environments whilst also sticking to the new rules and giving some of the walls a fresh lick of paint.
We are looking forward to welcoming back lots of old faces as well as some new faces on Monday. Week 1 will be focused on getting to know each other again and re establishing relationships while we familiarise ourselves with the routine of being back at school.
We know, for some, the thought of coming back to school may cause some anxiety especially after having such a long time away, but we will be here to support you and help you get used to school again. If anything worries you please speak to us.
Please keep an eye out for an email at the end of the week with final details and reminders including PE, forest school, drop off and pick ups, before and after school, uniform ...
Remember you can visit your classroom on Friday morning, please email to arrange a 10 minute visit if you want to see how everything looks before the weekend. By the end of the week there will also be photos of the classrooms on the class pages.
In the meantime, enjoy your last few days before school starts again.
Miss Howell
On Friday, we said a very sad goodbye to our amazing year 6 cohort. Most of this group have been at Lanlivery since Pre-school.
This group, more than any others, have been through lots together and have made bonds that I hope will last a lifetime. They are also been very unfortunate to be taught by me for nearly 5 years!
They have created memories that they can treasure from trips, residentials and adventures.
They have all made outstanding progress and have come a long way in the last 8/9 years. I am sad, that we couldn't give them the traditional send off. But, they have had their own unique goodbye that I hope they enjoyed. The squeals and screams as they were being soaked in the water fight suggested that they had a lovely end to primary school.
We wish every one of them the best of luck and cannot wait to hear all about your achievements and successes. Your leavers video is on Seesaw so you can have another watch.
For everyone else, we have just over 1 more week of term. We will be welcoming the year 5s in for a few days to prepare them for September. Soon we will send out more details about September. Thank you to everyone for you patience and understanding over the last few months. We have enjoyed hearing updates from everyone and seeing the fantastic work you have been doing. We are busy preparing to welcome you all in September.
Have a fabulous week!!
We hope everyone has had a good week, even if the beautiful weather has disappeared. This week, some of year 1 have returned to school. It was lovely to see them confidently coming in to school and getting back in to a routine. The year 6s survived their first week back and enjoyed making fizz, pop rockets on Tuesday and have created some very inventive games that we can play!
We are now 12 weeks in and you may find things getting harder, not easier. If you need us, please send us an email or give us a ring and we can talk through things with you.
The Cornwall Virtual School Games will take place from 22nd-26th June where pupils will be able to take part in different sports based activities throughout the week and record their scores each day. However they can start to practice the challenges from 8th June as they will be released throughout the week.
The Cornwall Virtual School Games has been designed with wellbeing in mind. Each day, they will be encouraging children and young people to think about how the activities they are taking part in support and promote one of the 5 ways to wellbeing. Visit Cornwall School Games Facebook page to keep up to date. I'll send more details of how you can get involved next week.
Don't forget to contact us if you need anything! Have a good week
Normally this term, we would be looking forward to trips, sleepovers, performances, sports days ... but not this year, sadly. This year our final half term is looking very different to usual.
Today we have welcomed
some more children back to school. It was lovely to see some more smiley faces arriving at the door and hearing about what they have been doing at home. I have been blown away by some of the work I have seen that children have doing and hearing about what they have learnt. Parents - you are doing an amazing job and we thank you for supporting your children’s learning at home in so many different ways.
Don’t forget all classes can access a programme to share their work with us: Little Foresters use Tapestry and Jays/Eagles use Seesaw. These programme give us the chance to give children feedback on their work and see what they are up to. If you’re not using these programmes and would like logon details let us know.
There is a link on the website homepage with lots of information about COVID19 and some links to websites/ organisations that you may find useful.
Hopefully everyone received their school report before half term, if you didn’t please let us know.
We we will keep you updated about which pupils we are open to and when. We are balancing numbers, staffing, space and safety, so please bare with us.
Mrs Couchman is back on the front desk, so please feel free to ring to speak to us. She will be in every morning and will try and give you any help you need or just have a catch up! We are on our emails everyday so can answer any questions, or if you would like us to give you a call to discuss anything we are more than happy to do this, just get in touch.
Stay in touch, stay safe and we hope to see you soon (photo taken from before social distancing)
We are sure that like us, you have lots of questions following the Prime Minister's announcement last night. At the moment, for us in school, there is no change to the guidance, so we will be continuing to operate as we have over the last few weeks. We will continue to provide essential child care for key worker families as well as vulnerable children. The message remains that it is safer to stay at home. We appreciate this is a confusing time. Once we have received further information and reviewed the guidance on how to manage a safe, phased return we will of course keep you informed. Please stay safe and take care.
We hope everyone is well and coping with this strange situation we find ourselves in. Remember, if you need us we are here to help, so please send as an email and we will get back to you.
Hopefully you are finding the resources on the class pages useful. There are so many fantastic resources online to try, if you find something useful let us know so we can share with others. It has been wonderful to see updates from lots of families on Tapestry and Seesaw. We have seen lots of happy faces of children doing some fantastic activities at home with their families.
