Climate Change

Luci and Nick Visit

Over the last two weeks we have had the pleasure to welcome two visits. Firstly, Luci Issacson visited with her electric car. She spoke to children about the changes we could make to make a difference - she introduced them to 10 pledges. The next week Nick Hart visited to follow up on Luci's visit and asked them which pledges would be easiest/ most difficult to achieve. He finished by asking us where 'away' was - when we throw things away. One of our pupils got it right when they said it didn't exist and won themselves a reusable metal bottle.
Next we will be working with a musician to try and write a song linked to what we have learnt so far about climate change.

New Year

New Beginnings

We have had a lovely start to the new year; all classes have been busy learning and enjoying their new classes!
We have fresh line paintings on the playground that children have been enjoying at playtimes and lunchtimes.
This year we are really focusing on our reading, please read as much as you can with your children at home it really helps them at school.

Carnival

Ugly Bug Ball

On Saturday, the Little Foresters took to the streets of Par for the annual carnival. This year we chose the theme of ugly bug ball. Children dressed as bees, bugs and butterflies and looked great. We won Category six and retained our trophy from last year!

Questionnaire

Parent feedback

We would like to thank you for taking the time to complete our Summer 2019 parent questionnaire. We have collated the information, you have kindly provided and can now share the results with you. Your comments and suggestions help to support the school and Trust in their continued effort to improve and develop areas within current systems to enrich parental communications and reach out to wider audiences. Here are just a few of your comments, so thank you once again for your valuable contribution.

Next Steps

In September, we will work on class pages on the website to add homework grids, spelling lists, topic information and additional links to help parents support their children at home.

End of year show

Battle of the Bands

Tonight was the night we finally performed our summer play - battle of the bands. This year the children in Eagles wrote the script themselves and there was a grand total of 14 songs! It was definitely more of a marathon than a sprint! With silly string and confetti it was a messy experience too. The pupils sang beautifully and performed with confidence, they did themselves proud. Well done

Trips and Sleepover

Lets Sleep at School

After a beautiful day at Camel Creek, where we braved the water rides, saw lots of animals and soared in to the sky on Vertigo, year reception to year 6 were invited to a sleepover at school. Key stage 2 camped in the forest and key stage 1 set up camp in the classroom. This event is the highlight of the year, the children love the opportunity to be responsible and independent and spend the night away from home. Not a lot of sleep was had, but lots of memories were made!

Sports Day

Blues Triumph Again!

The weather was on our side for sports day this year. The little Foresters had a successful morning competing in different events organised by the year 6. The year 1 - 6 had a beautiful afternoon in the sunshine participating in our traditional races. For the fourth year running, blues were victorious. Well done to everyone for having a go.

St Austell Garden Festival

A Garden in a Suitcase

Pupils entered the St Austell Gardens festival competition for schools. They had to plant and design a garden suitcase. Pupils worked together with their friends in their class to create the final product. They were taken to St Austell to be displayed and judged. We are pleased to say Jays class won 3rd prize. Well done to you, and Mrs Turner who helped you with your garden.

Brass Concert

Cornwall Regimental Museum Project

Pupils in Eagle class have been involved in a project since Christmas with the museum in Bodmin. They performed in St Petroc’s Church alongside Bugle School and Lostwithiel Training Band. It has been a great opportunity to try new things, build confidence and work as a team.

Eagle Class Trip

Bodmin Regimental Museum

Eagle class spent the day at Bodmin Regimental Museum to find out about the War for their question - Will I survive the war? The had the chance to experience life in the trenches, stand to attention, explore the artefacts and sing songs from the past. The children asked some great questions and found out about soldiers from Cornwall. We were really grateful for the museums contribution towards the transport costs.
